Explore St Bees and Local Area
To find out more about the local area, a good resource is the St Bees village website. We have a village steeped in history, and a great place to explore the early history and background to St Bega is good old Wikipedia. The priory itself (about 100 yards down the road from Lulu’s) is a beautiful place to visit in itself. You will also find the famous St Bees School on the other side of the road, and a lovely route down to the beach just before the priory.
The beach is a beautiful area in sunshine or rain, and by Summer 2014 will have a fabulous children’s play area available for all to enjoy. If you are looking for a great walk you can explore St Bees Head (and if doing the Coast to Coast will be doing this anyway!). Beyond St Bees Head, you can head down into Fleswick Bay via the smuggler’s steps. You get a great sense of the feet that have trodden there before.
Of course, in the village you have a Post Office selling essentials, and also a variety of pubs if you fancy a pint or a glass of refreshment on your way back to Lulu’s!
